From My Kitchen to Your Thanksgiving Table 🧑

Hi there, Reader

If my analytics are serving me correctly, you should only be receiving this if you live in Canada. I'm sure it's not foolproof though, so apologies if you live elsewhere, and feel free to file this away for future festivities!

And now onto the subject at hand - I can hardly believe it's Thanksgiving next week! As usual, it's crept up on me out of nowhere, and I'm feeling a mild sense of panic.

Last year I made my fave combo of vegan ham, mashed potato casserole, caramelized Brussels sprouts and gravy. It makes such a delicious plate, and the casserole, ham, and gravy can all be made ahead.

This year I have no idea, except for dessert. My son has requested a saucy hot chocolate pudding, which I've had on my recipe to-do list for ages, so in preparation, I've been testing a scaled-down version. If all goes well, you might see it shared here eventually!

If you are like me and have no idea what you're going to make, here is some Thanksgiving recipe inspiration. I hope it inspires your menu planning!

Vegan Ham

This glazed seitan ham is sticky, tender, juicy, smoky, sweet, perfectly meaty, and delicious! You can bake it a few days ahead, store it in the fridge, then score and glaze on the day. It also makes great lunch meat when it's not the holidays!

Mashed Potato Casserole

Mash up the creamy tater filling, sprinkle over the cheesy, oniony, crispy topping, and bake it up to golden perfection. Or assemble and stash it in the fridge for up to 3 days.

Don't just save this one for the holidays. I make it for regular dinners all the time. It's one of my all-time faves!

The Best Sweet Potatoes

These amazing sweet potatoes are cooked in plenty of vegan butter and stock so they suck up all of that lovely flavour before roasting themselves to golden, sticky, melty perfection. Then comes a tumble of candied pecans for texture. So good!

Easy Cranberry Sauce

Quick and easy to make at home and WAY better than anything from a jar or can! (Comes with stovetop & Instant Pot instructions).

Incredible Mashed Potatoes

Not your average mashed potatoes! These are super buttery and infused with herbs and garlic. They can even be made ahead. See the recipe notes for how to reheat in the oven or in a slow cooker (great for saving oven space).

Vegan Sweet Potato Casserole

This sweet potato casserole is deliciously sweet and savoury, with an irresistible, buttery pecan crumble topping! This can be made up to 2 days ahead. Store the crumble topping separately from the sweet potato layer until you bake it.

Green Bean Casserole

Made from scratch with tender green beans baked up in a deliciously creamy mushroom sauce and topped with crispy, golden, buttery breadcrumbs and tangles of caramelized onions.

Vegan Roast

Roast seitan turkey-style! This can be made days ahead. Let it get to room temperature, then slice. A bit of hot gravy is enough to warm it up. It's pictured here with the sweet potatoes and cranberry sauce I included above.

Vegan Red Wine Gravy

Super tasty and flavourful gravy infused with sweet vegetables & fresh herbs. This can be made days ahead and warmed gently in a saucepan before serving.

Vegan Scalloped Potatoes

Thinly sliced potatoes layered up in an easy, creamy, savoury sauce and baked until meltingly soft, golden and bubbly!

Caramelized Brussels Sprouts

Golden, sticky, sweet, tangy, and a little spicy, they are absolutely impossible to resist!

Red Cabbage with Apples

Red cabbage baked with apples, onion, and herbs until it's fall-apart tender.

Easy Vegan Gravy

Ditch the packet and make your own easy Vegan Gravy with simple pantry ingredients in 5 minutes flat. It's cheap, quick, simple, flavourful, great with any meal, and reheats well so you can make it in advance.

Vegan Stuffing

With cubes of flavour-soaked crusty bread, crumbled vegan sausage for meaty richness, loads of onion, garlic and herbs, and some grated apple and dried cranberries for delicious contrast and pops of colour. You can even prep it ahead!

Pumpkin Mac & Cheese

Tender macaroni with silky, creamy pumpkin-infused cheese sauce, and a golden, bubbly, crusty, and melty cheesy top to finish it off. Ready in 20 minutes!

Incredible Sweet Potato Mash

For the very best flavour and texture, the sweet potatoes are roasted with rosemary and garlic before mashing. This makes the flavour really concentrated and the mash extra thick and rich.

The Softest Vegan Dinner Rolls

This simple no-knead recipe is ridiculously easy, and the rolls are buttery, fluffy, golden, and unbelievably delicious. You don't need a mixer, and you can even prep them and store in the fridge for up to 24 hours before baking!

Something Sweet?

For dessert in our house, most years it's a toss-up between my pecan pie, pumpkin pie, New York Cheesecake, and Biscoff cheesecake.

I'd quite happily devour all 4, so I let everyone else decide which I should make! πŸ˜‹

Hi there, Reader This hug in a bowl is the perfect way to kick off fall soup season! It's easy to make, budget-friendly, seriously comforting, and has been my most popular soup recipe since 2019 (I've included some glowing reader reviews below the pic). It's also a personal favourite. I make it all the time during soup season and love to switch up the toppings. Pictured on top of this bowl is smoky tempeh bacon (I think it was the Lightlife brand), little cubes of crispy roast potato, and...

Hi there, Reader Wait...What? It can't possibly be October in a few days! Where has the summer gone? We (doggos and all) just got back from a lovely, peaceful vacation on Pender Island. Chester and his amazing shadow on Pender Island! For such a tiny island, it was incredibly vegan-friendly. The highlight for me was an honesty cheesecake fridge with delicious vegan cheesecake! I could say I only visited once or twice, but I'd be lying. I ended up there most days! And now I'm back; we've...
